Surbiton Ladies suffered their first defeat at the Jaffa Super 6s Division One in Bristol on Sunday morning, but came back from 2-0 down before Buckingham scored the winning goal.

Both teams had won their first two games, Buckingham aiming for an immediate return to the Premier Division. Buckingham led 2-0 after just five minutes, Katrina Nicholson opening the scoring in the fourth minute through open play and Rebecca van Berkel adding a second a minute later via a penalty corner routine.

To their credit, Surbiton battled hard an pulled a goal back in the 29th minute, Freya Gladstone convertng a penalty corner.

Four minutes later, Darcy Bourne kept up her record of scoring in every game, equalising from the penalty spot.

With three minutes to play, van Berkel broke Surbiton’s hearts with another penalty corner routine.

Surbiton dropped from second to third on goal difference after Beeston beat St. Albans 6-1 on Sunday.

Surbiton take on Chelmsford in their final game of the weekend at 1600.
